Highlighting the Vital Role of In situ Molecular techniques in Biomedical Research

The Comparative Pathology Laboratory has invited Dr. Sharon Yang from the Translational Pathology Shared Resource at Vanderbilt University Medical Center to speak at the Biomedical Research Awareness Day at UC Davis on April 18th. Dr. Yang will be summarizing in situ molecular techniques (immunofluorescence, immunohistochemistry, in situ hybridization) and discussing comparative strengths and limitations, approaches to validating biomarkers, and impact on research outcomes. These methods enable researchers to visualize the spatial distribution and relative abundance of target molecules within tissue samples, allowing for the direct observation of cellular localization and tissue-specific expression patterns. This seminar has been made possible with support from the Virginia Perry Wilson Foundation. The Biomedical Research Awareness Day is hosted each year by Campus Veterinary Services and the Office of Research.
